CREATURES OF HABIT (Sando)

How predictable we humans are
once we get something down we run it into the ground
but if the shoe fits I just can't quit
Creatures of Habit can't help what they do
Creatures of Habit I'll come runnin' to you
Uncontrollable and weak we go
and place another bet smoke a cigarette
I see a telephone I hope you're alone
Creatures of Habit can't help what they do
Creatures of Habit I'll come runnin' to you
I can't let go sometimes it feels so strange
instinct rules my soul and that's not gonna change
How dependable my heart will be
a lover and a friend again and again
and I'm gonna need you every day so set in my ways
Creatures of Habit can't help what they do
Creatures of Habit I'll come runnin' to you
Soprano Sax: Baron Raymonde
Synth: Joe Delia / Guitar: Peter Sando

I DON'T WANT TO PRAY FOR LOVE (Sando)
I have prayed for the damnedest things
prayed for sunshine and prayed for rain
prayed for money and material gain
but I Don't Want To Pray For Love
I thank God for this life I live
and I say grace before I break my bread
I pray forgiveness for some things that I did
but I Don't Want To Pray For Love
I’ll pray for peace and brotherhood
please take away the fear and hate
but I can find love on my own I hope I’m not too late
They say give and you’ll receive
and if that’s true then I believe
unselfish hearts should never bleed
oh I Don't Want To Pray For Love
And here I am on my knees again sorrowful to say the least
but If I have to live without your love I might as well be a priest
If you want your freedom go ahead and fly
I'll pray for you and this other guy
I'll pray we meet in heaven when we die
but I Don't Want To Pray For Love
no I Don't Want To Pray For Love
Organ: Joe Delia / Bass: Bob Jenkins
Guitar, Piano, Drums: Peter Sando

JOHN BROWN (Sando)
Some said John was saintly some said he was a fool
as he spoke of revolution and the golden rule
with a bible in his satchel and a rifle in his hand
he would sacrifice his own to liberate this land
John Brown left North Elba for Ossowatamie
he knew his sons were waiting and Kansas had to be free
they were fighting border ruffians hoping to turn the tide
but the bloody swords of '56 no one could abide
Back in Virginia we gathered in his glow
his eyes as red as fire hair as white as snow
he knew a house divided in time would never stand
as unto the secret six Capt. Brown revealed his plan
Attack at Harper's Ferry this time it's for real
dreams of insurrection reinforcements from the fields
now we had the guns and ammo and a chance to get away
but old man Brown he held his ground
he was goin' to have his day

John Brown laid his body down

What northern lawyer will defend the leader of this gang
tried before his wounds had healed and sentenced to hang
he owed more than his life but his words would pay the debt
and strike a blow for freedom that no one could forget
In Cleveland and Concord the bells they did ring
from Philadelphia to Buffalo choirs they would sing
all along the underground railroad people they were crying
abolitionists everywhere knew John Brown was crucified

NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS (Sando)
Time goes by so quickly the future is the past
the world is surely changin' bad news travels fast
by now we know what's happening please don't remind us
all these negative feelings we're gonna leave them all behind us

No News is Good News I've heard it all before
No News is Good News keep away from my door

We don't need no headlines summing up the world
the most current affair in my life is being with my girl
eliminate distractions put 'em all up on the shelf
it's all blown out of proportion anyway
  we better worry 'bout ourselves

No News is Good News I've heard it all before
No News is Good News keep away from my door

We'll cover up the mailslot and disconnect the phone
and when we hear that doorbell ring
we're gonna yell out "NOBODY'S HOME"
no TV or radio not gonna waste my time
if we told them how the other 99% of us live
it wouldn't be worth a lousy dime

No News is Good News I've heard it all before
No News is Good News keep away from my door

(INST)
  Environmental catastrophe greed and corruption
it's Dan Rather with the play by play
of all the day's death and destruction

TRIED AND TRUE (Sando)

She was an older girl
she'd been all 'round the world
she knew just what to say
she looked so fine didn't waste no time
she made it easy to stay
but when her hair came down
I stood my ground
I thought of you
I excused myself
now I'm Tried and True

Her sweet perfume
it filled the room
and it made me high
her big green eyes hypnotized
as they opened wide
but it felt so wrong your love was too strong
I was drawn to you
baby here I am
Tried and True

She was mine for the taking so beautiful and free
yes there are ladies fair but none to compare
with the one who waits for me

Every lover fears
when temptation nears
a heart can fall
and I must confess a tight cut dress
can make a good man crawl
I've been down to the wire I've walked through fire
just to get to you
and you can count on me
'cause I'm Tried and True
Bass: Bob Jenkins / Drums: Bryan Post
Piano: Joe Delia / Guitars, Synth: Peter Sando

DESERT FLOWER (Sando)

Rest your head my child it's twilight on the plain
we're safe inside this circle of stones
I look into your eyes I think of a distant flame
and pray that you will rise up and be strong
The ghosts of all this nation still whisper in the wind
Bliss Sando with
The Ringwood Rockers
they haunt me as I mingle with their sighs
as all the broken promises lie scattered in the sand
we dream of sacred hills we left behind

   Sleep now Desert Flower
let the night wind speak your name
and await your waking hour in the morning rain

I can see the future and the medicine it brings
to the day this trail of tears will finally bloom
the old ways forgotten like the song the eagle sings
but the truth will be revealed like painted moon

   So sleep now Desert Flower
let the night wind speak your name
and await your waking hour in the morning rain
Background Vocals: Bliss Sando
Guitars, Keyboards, Percussion: Peter Sando

SOMETHING I SAID (Sando)

Two people sitting in a bar trying to fall in love
one got drunk and the other went home
now they go on spending their nights alone
well ooee the drunk was me and I can't get out of my bed
wondering what it was that scared her away
it must have been Something I Said

When I was young I held my tongue
tho' it never seemed to do no good
tryin' to live on a heartbreak song
but no one else could ever sing along
so I sold my soul to reach my goal
and now there's a price on my head
I'm out here hiding like everyone else
all because of Something I Said

Well the years go by and everything changes
like a train rolling over the tracks
and this old boy's come a mighty long way
but I can't find a way to go back
can't find a way to go back

So watch and wait but you can't tempt fate
I guess it wasn't meant to be
when the stores are empty and the well runs dry
it really won't matter how hard you try
so hope and pray but live for today
tomorrow we could all be dead
and I'm still sitting here wastin' my time
thinking 'bout Something I Said

Well the years go by and everything changes
like a train rolling over the tracks
and this old boy's come a mighty long way
but I can't find a way to go back
can't find a way to go back
Bass: Bob Jenkins  / Drums: Bruce Stewart
Dobro: Steve Toth / Background Vocal: Jack McMahon
Guitars: Peter Sando

THEY'LL DO IT EVERY TIME (Sando / McMahon)

Put on a smile today let all the bad dreams fade away
and don't mind the people who are cutting in your line
because Baby They'll Do It Every Time

If you're confused  'bout what's right
just follow your heart to the light
and look out for liars they  can stop you on a dime
Baby They'll Do It Every Time

Just count your blessings it's so easy to find faults
you might miss the best part of the day
it's a secret to survival and a lesson for us all
don't waste your time on things you can't change

You gotta choose love over pain
'tho you may stumble again and again
to err is human but forgiveness is divine
and Baby We'll Do It Every Time
oh Baby We'll Do It Every Time

SUMMER LOVE (Sando)

The big city grind is so far behind
I know a place I can hide
the lights on the bay show me the way
soon I'll be there by her side
bright August moon on a sleepy lagoon
taking away all my care
the warm summer breeze plays through the reeds
whispers a song in my ear
And it's a one way trip to a lover's island
lighthouse climbing to the sky the ocean in her eyes
Summer Love laying in the sand
Summer Love we’ll be free again
Summer Love with the wind in her hair
and the time we share in the salty air

Convertible car eats up the tar

this is what I call fun
away from the crowd radio loud
taking our time in the sun
the birds on the beach just out of reach
pick on a crab til it's clean
we walk hand in hand write in the sand
the words float away to the sea
And it's a one way trip to a lover's island
lighthouse climbing to the sky watchin’ boats go by
Summer Love we’ll be singing songs
Summer Love as we stroll along
Summer Love with the sun on her skin
and the cool of a swim as the waves roll in
Bass: Bob Jenkins / Piano, Organ: Joe Delia
Conga: Garrett Dawson / Guitars, Drums: Peter Sando

HELPLESS (Sando / Jenkins)

Sometimes I feel like I'm torn in two
on the fine line between love and desire
the spirit so willing but the flesh so weak
and I'm Helpless as a man can be

How many times have I looked for you
had to be blind enough to see
I opened my eyes but my hands were tied
I was Helpless as a man can be

I listened to my conscience once but that was long ago
now a voice keeps callin' me but I don't hear what it says
' cause I don't need it no more

The rest of my life making love to you
that's all I need to set me free
here I stand waiting for the touch of your hand
Helpless as a man can be
Bass: Bob Jenkins / Drums: Greg Hollenbeck
Piano: Joe Delia  / Sax: Baron Raymonde

SINK OR SWIM (Sando)

The first time that I saw her I was knocked right out
but way back in my mind I still had my doubts
'cause I'd heard all the stories and I understood
in spite of all her beauty she was still no good

Well I guess that more than once she had me thinkin' twice
and I'm not one to disregard a friend's advice
but stories often spread like ripples on a brook
so I stepped in myself to take a closer look

Sink or Swim I've fallen in who's gonna throw the line
how long can I last when I'm sinkin' fast
I think I'm gonna lose my mind

We sailed the sea of love and she called me honey
and then she turned her back on me and kept my money
just like some kind of rock she went and put me down
she said "You're too dense to float and I'm too young to drown"

Sink or Swim I've fallen in who's gonna throw the line
how long can I last when I'm sinkin' fast
I think I'm gonna lose my mind

Well I'd be high and dry if I had time to think
but fools like me were meant to wind up in the drink
I could scream and shout but it won't do no good
'cause I can't swim and everybody knew I would
Sink or Swim I've fallen in who's gonna throw the line
how long can I last when I'm sinkin' fast
I think I'm gonna lose my mind
Bass: Bob Jenkins / Drums: Bruce Stewart
Piano: Joe Delia / Guitars, Harmonica: Peter Sando

ONE LESS STAR (Sando)

Thinkin' back and keepin' track of all the things we've done
paper moons and motelrooms loving on the run
and by now we've travelled far
and I don't know where we are
Oh the time goes by so fast nothing lasts
and there's One Less Star in the sky
    where's the love we knew
what to do when we reach goodbye

Valentine says please be mine as if it were the Spring
but skies are grey and I must say the bird is on the wing
and it's been so very long
since you sent your love back home
And the time goes by so fast nothing lasts
and there's One Less Star in the sky
    where's the love we knew
what to do when we reach goodbye

Go on free yourself be yourself
find yourself the place where you belong
who knows where the road may lead
someday you may find the dreams you left behind

And the time goes by so fast nothing lasts
and there's One Less Star in the sky
    may your wish come true
what to do when we reach goodbye

CONSIDER ME SOMEBODY ELSE (Sando)

I got lost one day while looking for you
I had to change my point of view
for lack of anything better to do
I cease to be myself
Consider Me Somebody Else

Now the reason we're here is plain to see
it's guns or butter and nothing is free
and I can still remember when I was me
I cease to be myself
Consider Me Somebody Else

All this talking I ought to be walking away
new horizon find a better way

When I'm early  you tell me I'm late
when I'm on time you're makin’ me wait
call it bad timing or call it fate
I cease to be myself
Consider Me Somebody Else

All this talking I ought to be walking away
new horizon find a better way

I got lost one day while looking for you
I had to change my point of view
for lack of anything better to do
I cease to be myself
Consider Me Somebody Else
